Alev - We Live In Paradise
Alev, a tough alternative rock/metal band with an even tougher (but even so cute) front‘man’. Four guys and one woman make Alev what they are now. With the leadsingers name as bandname I was surprised she was not on the cover. Instead of her you’ll find the tattoot back of a hairy man. If I only could choose………
We Live In Paradise is their debut but that doesn’t mean they have just started. After more then two years of playing their asses off and releasing two demo-cd’s on their own, they got a deal with Eclipse Records. I got the chance to check this album out…
The opening song, that listens to the album title, is almost like electro powerrock. It brought me, totally unexpected, into a futuristic electro atmosphere. The mans tattoo from the cover fits perfectly in that atmosphere.
It appears that the album starts pretty heavy, then turns easier and then again gets a bit more powerful. Like I said before Alev make alternative rock with a bit metal in it. Until the fifth song you’ll hear a lot of metal influences. Still, the feminine voice keeps it sweet. Even though musically it has its rough parts. Her voice reminds me here and then of a mix between Alanis Morissette and Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries).
From Where Is The Horse it all gets a lil’ bit easier. It gets followed up later on by Dying Everyday, which is the only acoustic song on the album. Too bad they used a very cheesy keyboard sound. Her voice also doesn’t live up to its promise in this song. It does in the eleventh song that’s named Sweet Lullaby.
The cd I got is an enhanged CD containing bonus pictures, a video, wallpapers, band info and more. For this I only had to put it in my computer and I automatically got directed into a program/menu. If you got the album, check it out, they really did a nice job here!
In total, this is not my favorite kind of music. I doens't gets all rough because of the feminine voice. On the other hand, it also isn't a soft poprock band. It kind of floats in between.
